The late Woo Hon Fai’s () family business is called Woo Hon Fai Group. He was raised in Hong Kong after leaving his birthplace of Shunde, Southern China, and established Lee Cheong Gold Dealers Limited in 1950. He was chosen to lead the Hong Kong Gold & Silver Exchange Society in 1970. He implemented critical reforms throughout his 15 years in office and contributed to Hong Kong’s growth into one of the most significant gold markets in the world. He gained notoriety for his donations and earned the moniker “Hong Kong King of Gold.” Darrin Woo, the eldest grandson of Mr. Woo, currently serves as the family office’s director.
